The fish rich waters of Southern California can be some of the most productive fishing in the world. An established breeding ground and nursery for both mako and thresher sharks, these waters are also home to a number of other hard fighting game fish. From yellowtail and white sea bass, to calicos, barracuda, bonita, and halibut, both the inshore coastal and island, as well as the offshore fishing here can be spectacular. It all depends upon the time of year and how knowledgeable you are about the individual species. Join us as we team up with the Keith Poe and David Brackman as we battle threshers, inside the Long Beach breakwater before heading toward mid channel for a shot at some big time makos. From there we move inland, to the Salton Sea to fish plastics with Barry Brightenberg and Rick Ozaki, throwing to some fresh water cousins of the white sea bass, the legendary corvina. These fish hit like wahoo, jump like dorado and fight like a tuna and with multiple hookups going off all day, the action is non-stop. We wrap it all up with an incredible look back in time, circa 1954, and a 3/4 day trip aboard the Hurricane, running out of Pierpoint Landing that brought limits of albacore, bluefin tuna, bottom grabbers, and a broadbill swordfish that topped the scales at just under 500 pounds. Not too shabby for a 3/4 day runWe all share one plant, one ocean and have only one chance, so let's get it right.
