Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a revolutionary combination of fluorocarbon (PVDF) and nylon. It is extruded under extremely close tolerances to provide uniform diameter and strength. Once extruded, it is actually run through a double finishing process adding another double osmotic coat of fluorocarbon. Because HYBRID is 100% waterproof, water can't penetrate and dry it out like ordinary mono. The benefits of Yo-Zuri HYBRID are not limited to one type of fishing or to a single set of fishing conditions. On the contrary, this remarkable line is extremely versatile and using it will likely improve your overall fishing success. Yo-Zuri HYBRID offers outstanding casting characteristics. It is easily manageable on both casting and spinning reels. Unlike nylon monofilaments it doesn't take a set on the reel but remains pliable. That feature yields longer, straighter casts and nearly friction-free line travel. In jigging situations, the super hard finish really comes into play - especially when fishing around bridges, rock piles, wrecks and similar obstructions. Cuts and nicks which occur often in nylon monos are a rarity with Yo-Zuri HYBRID. With the tough, hard finish of Yo-Zuri HYBRID, you can pull big fish out of bad places with complete confidence. Trollers will immediately appreciate the benefits that the small diameter of Yo-Zuri HYBRID yields. The first gain is more line on the reel and that added capacity means an extra margin of security when a big fish makes a long run. The small diameter also means that the line will pull through the water with far less drag. Angler will be able to maintain a tighter line on the fish and greater control-whether it's a stand-up, knees to the gunwale duel, or a strapped to the chair marathon, the chances for success improve every time you have Yo-Zuri HYBRID on your reel!Yo-Zuri HYBRID is the closest modern technology has come to producing a line which receives high marks in all of the important performance categories. Strength: In terms of tensile strength, the high density of fluorocarbon creates increased solidity is the fishing line, meaning literally a more dense construction than any nylon line. Fluorocarbon, when extruded, has very little room between molecules. Nylon has a substantial amount of space between molecules. More material in the same amount of space equates to higher density, and therefore higher strength. Stretch: This is a very important characteristic in determining actual strength in a fishing situation. The addition of nylon to HYBRID slightly increases stretch and resiliency versus 100% fluorocarbon lines. Controlled stretch prevents pop-offs by transferring energy to the line over a slightly longer period of time.Sensitivity: In most nylon lines, the only wayto increase sensitivity is to decrease stretch. Therefore, a compromise must be made in order to manipulate either of these properties. One of the little known properties of fluorocarbon is that it transfers energy MUCH faster than nylon. This is due mostly to its substantially higher specific gravity. Fluorocarbon allows anglers to feel activity (such as a strike) through the fishing line much faster than nylon due to the increased transmission speed of this energy. Imagine having a 50' long piece of steel and the same length of wood. If a hammer strikes the end of both pieces of material at the same time, the strike will be felt much faster and with greater intensity at the end of the steel than the end of wood. Using this example, nylon is like the wood, while fluorocarbon is like the steel. This same phenomenon allows HYBRID to be much more sensitive than traditional nylon lines. Wet Versus Dry Strength: Most anglers know nylon monofilament absorbs water and loses some of its strength after prolonged submersion in water. Yo-Zuri HYBRID, because of its high fluorocarbon content and double fluorocarbon coating, is 100% waterproof. HYBRID will retain 100% of its dry knot and tensile strength even after a full day of fishing. UV Resistance: Fluorocarbon is inert, a property which makes it resistant to most chemicals and UV radiation. Unless UV inhibitors are added to nylon line - a process which can weaken the line - it will deteriorate after prolonged exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays. HYBRID's fluorocarbon properties make it extremely resistant to such line weakening elements. Durability: HYBRID will last an incredibly long time. Since the line is resistant to nearly all water borne atmospheric conditions which can weaken lines, it should last four to five times longer than most nylon monofilament lines. Casting Distance: Because of the high density and specific gravity of fluorocarbon, Yo-Zuri HYBRID weighs more than nylon monofilaments. Casting distance is appreciably greater than similar diameter nylon lines because line weight is an integral part in achieving casting distance. Also, the hard, slick finish creates far less resistance on rod guides. High Reel Capacity: HYBRID is very strong for it's diameter. We have included average tensile strengths for each diameter, allowing fishermen to make their own decisions on what strength and diameter line may be appropriate. For example, our 20# test is 0.017" in diameter, and its average break strength is approximately 26 lbs. If someone is looking for a true 20# break strength, or would like extra reel capacity, they may choose to spool up with our 12# or 15# sizes. On the other hand, an angler may choose to spool his PENN 4/0 Senator, as an example, with its specified capacity of 450 yds. of 30# HYBRID, and still have advantage of 41 lbs. of breaking strength. Water Resistance: Hybrid has a slick, non-porous finish. This allows it to quickly pass through water, creating very little drag. In situations where fast moving fish create substantial drag on the line, HYBRID excels by allowing the angler to recover line more quickly and to maintain more consistent pressure on fish. Visibility: Hybrid is colored to allow for visibility above water. This coloring also prohibits the fiber optic effect clear, or non-colored lines suffer from, whereby light actually is transmitted through a non-colored line into the water. The fluorocarbon content reduces and diffuses light reflection in water, however it does not diffuse light in the same manner as 100% fluorocarbon fishing line or leader material. In short, it's light refractivity is lower than nylon but higher than 100% fluorocarbon. Abrasion resistance: The same slick, non-porous finish that makes hybrid waterproof also makes it extremely abrasion resistant. It has a hard, smooth outside finish.
