The digital CD Ignition system produces quicker ignition timing response at any rpm and conditions, providing faster starts, quicker throttle response, and smoother trolling. A larger capacity air silencer greatly reduces induction noise to create one of the quietest rides on the water. The fast-idle choke system on the carburetor eliminates the need for difficult choking techniques and enables simplistic starting, while the newly designed recoil starter has a larger starter reel making manual starting fast and easy. A large splash plate minimizes water splash, especially at higher speeds, and a rim tab on the gear case stabilizes steering torque for any running condition while also helping to protect the engine form electrolysis and corrosion.
