Legendary director D.W. Griffith (INTOLERANCE) delivers another sweeping historical epic with this film, based on the d`Ennery and Corman play, THE TWO ORPHANS. Sisters Lillian and Dorothy Gish are the girls who become separated in the streets of eighteenth century Paris during the dramatic upheavals of the French Revolution. As Henriette (Lillian Gish) searches for her blind adopted sister Louise (Dorothy Gish), she falls in love with a kind and concerned young member of the aristocracy, Chevalier (Joseph Schildkraut). Unfortunately their love is doomed by her commoner status, and his callous uncle (Frank Losee), who railroads her off to prison to keep them apart. The revolution occurs, and Henriette is liberated, but then theres more trouble when mob rule causes chaos in the streets, the guillotine awaits Chevalier, and Louise remains just out of reach. Griffith captures the class injustice at the heart of this story by contrasting scenes of lavish parties at the houses of the nobles with the abject poverty of the beggars outside. The thrilling use of crowds and meticulous historical accuracy make this an epic comparable in scope and theme to BIRTH OF A NATION, which is how Griffith undoubtedly meant it. The film is silent, with tinted scenes and film score.NR"

A Yank in the RAF (DVD)
Tim Baker (Tyrone Power) is a cocky but easygoing American pilot who signs up to ferry a bomber to Britain in the early days of World War II. When he encounters old flame Carol Brown (Betty Grable) performing in a London cabaret, Tim decides to stay in England and join the Royal Air Force. He soon finds that one of his fellow flyers, Wing Commander Morley (John Sutton), is a romantic rival for the attentions of Carol. But as the Nazi threat becomes more pressing, Tim and Morley put aside their differences and pull together to participate in the daring evacuation of the Allied troops from Dunkirk. A YANK IN THE RAF teams action, adventure, and a dangerous love triangle with actual air combat footage and the songs Another Dream Won`t Do Us Any Harm and Hi-Ya Love to create jingoistic rapture in a story originally written for the screen by famed producer Daryl Zanuck (using the name Melvile Grossman).NR"

Jennifer Love-Hewitt (I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER) stars as the legendary Audrey Hepburn in this ambitious made-for-TV bio-pic that focuses on the extraordinary events that transformed a scampish war refugee into one of the most beloved actresses of all time. Framed around her battles to win the affections of the catty Truman Capote (Michael J.Burg) during the filming of BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY`S in New York City, the film employs flashbacks to recount Hepburn`s rise to fame -- offset by the many trials of her personal life and her relationships with millionaire James Hanson (Peter Giles), actor William Holden (Gabriel Macht), and producer Mel Ferrer (Eric McCormack - WILL & GRACE).
