The Long Gray Line (DVD)
John Ford cast former matinee idol Tyrone Power against type in the true story of Marty Maher, a humble Irish immigrant who rose through the ranks to become one of West Point`s most revered instructors. Arriving at the hallowed military academy near the turn of the 20th century, Maher first gets a job as a cafeteria dishwasher but realizes that the enlisted men receive better treatment and quickly becomes one. The life of military discipline is no easier for the Irishman, and he soon finds himself in the guardhouse after getting in a fight with an officer he mistakenly accuses of a crime. Upon his release, Capt. Herman Koehler (Ward Bond), who saw the fight and admired his pugilistic skill, offers Marty a job as the school`s boxing coach. Koehler also introduces him to the quiet Irish-born cook, Mary (Maureen O`Hara), who will become his wife. As the years pass, Marty`s role expands beyond his place in the athletic department as he gradually becomes one of the most beloved characters in the school`s history, a second father to thousands of grateful cadets. This warmly sentimental, typically Fordian tribute to a life of service--the director`s first film following a year off because of eye surgery--features a fine performance by Power as the volatile, big hearted Hibernian.NR"

Two Can Play That Game (DVD)
Shanti (Vivica A. Fox), a glamorous advertising executive, is a heroine to all her girlfriends. She`s the one they turn to for relationship advice--Shanti seems to have all the answers when it comes to romance and understanding men. So when she catches her boyfriend Keith (Morris Chestnut) seeing another girl, Shanti will stop at nothing to win back his affections and her own pride. She decides to implement a 10-day plan to eliminate her competition and get her man to mend his cheating ways. As she puts her plan into action, she speaks directly to the camera, very analytically talking us through every trick in the relationship bag. Shanti will accidentally run into Keith with a gorgeous Other Man; she`ll ignore his phone calls; she`ll even seduce him and then cruelly walk out before the deed is done.
Problem is, Keith doesn`t fall for Shanti`s games, and instead he gives her a taste of her own medicine. His friend Tony (Anthony Anderson), who is almost as strategic and savvy as Shanti, is advising Keith behind the scenes. This self-conscious tale of conniving, manipulative modern love hearkens back to the film director Mark Brown wrote in 1997, HOW TO BE A PLAYER.R"
