An intense suspense thriller with a haunting soundtrack, KLUTE is the first part of what director Alan Pakula described as his paranoid trilogy. The story follows Bree, a Manhattan prostitute (Jane Fonda), and rural Pennsylvania private eye John Klute (Donald Sutherland), who is investigating the disappearance of his friend Tom Gruneman. Bree`s and Klute`s worlds collide when Klute`s only lead points him to Manhattan and to Bree, the last person to see his friend, and who is being stalked. Shot on location in New York City, the film is both an intriguing and intelligently adult suspense film and a showcase for Fonda, who won an Academy Award for her role.

The Prime Gig (DVD)
Given a telephone, small-time scam artist Pendleton Wise, also known as Penny (Vince Vaughn), can talk people into almost anything. But as he whiles away his time in a small office, selling fake travel packages to the unsuspecting public, Penny dreams of something bigger, of the prime gig. His ship finally comes in, in the form of a sexy young woman named Caitlin (Julia Ormond), who spots Penny`s talent and invites him to join a project led by the legendary con man Kelly Grant (Ed Harris). Fresh out of prison, Grant is operating in top secrecy. He claims to have found a mine which contains $30 million in gold; if his telemarketers can just raise two and a half million to mine it, the payoff will be huge for everyone.
Penny enthusiastically signs on; he`s playing with the big boys now, and as they`ve promised, the dough is soon rolling in. Within just a couple of weeks, his bank account contains almost a hudred thousand dollars. But trouble ensues after he and Grant become rivals for Caitlin`s affections, and Penny loses sight of rule #1: never trust another con. The feature debut of Tony-award winning theater director Gregory Mosher, the film is a moody and sensitively acted thriller.R"

John Cromwell (THE PRISONER OF ZENDA, THE GODDESS) brings W. Somerset Maughams novel and Bette Daviss career to life with the spellbinding drama OF HUMAN BONDAGE. Having unsuccessfully tried his hand at painting in Paris, Philip Carey (Leslie Howard) returns home to London. Despite his clubfoot, Philip overcomes his awkwardness and pursues a medical career. Still in medical school, he becomes obsessed with a gruff Cockney waitress, Mildred Rogers (Davis), intent on taking him for all he is worth. When Carey discovers that she is dating other men, he attempts to forget her by striking up a relationship with another woman. The effort fails when Mildred returns to tell Carey she is pregnant. Mildred repeatedly leaves Carey in distress but returns to him when she needs money. Eventually, his devotion to her threatens his career ambitions and his chance for future happiness. Davis is spectacular as the repulsive Mildred, while Howards quiet, suffering gentleman furthered his own reputation as an outstanding performer.
