Chan Hui Lau stars in this vintage martial arts film as Chang, the owner of a winery and master of Drunken Boxing, a deadly kung fu technique that, as the name implies, requires its practitioner to be drunk. His relatively peaceful life is interrupted when he catches two boys (Li Yi Min and Jack Long) stealing grapes from his vineyards and puts them to work for him. Over time, he teaches them the art of Drunken Boxing. When the two boys get into a fight with some local toughs, they provoke the wrath of Yeh Hu (Lung Fei), Chang`s enemy. Angered at his rival`s disciples, Yeh Hu and his men storm the winery and begin a drunken brawl that is beyond description. Frequently hilarious, WORLD OF DRUNKEN MASTER is an enormously entertaining martial arts film.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses (DVD)
Roger Vadim takes his patented obsessions with beauty and the tawdry, destructive behavior that inevitably accompanies it to the French literary classic LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES, Choderlos de Laclos`s scathing 18th-century epistolary novel. Jeanne Moreau and Girard Philipe play Valmont and Juliette, two equally beautiful and equally cruel married hipsters scouring the smoky and chic underworld of beatnik-tinged 1960 Paris for their next amorous victims. A highly charged jazz soundtrack (by Thelonious Monk) underscores the decadence as Valmont and Juliette compare and contrast their cruel infidelities, each trying to outdo the other. When Valmonts latest obsession, Marianne (played by Vadims wife, Annette), begins to capture his heart, the game is up and Juliette seeks revenge, bringing destruction and disaster in her wake. Moreau and Philipe inject their characters with sultry new-wave hipness, giving the film a cool and devastating contemporary pathos. Vadims transposition of the casual cruelties and excruciatingly subtle protocols of 18th-century French court life is uncannily accurate, and the director brings themes developed in his earlier masterpiece, AND GOD CREATED WOMAN, to a sophisticated crescendo of visual and psychological eroticism, romance, and ennui.NR"

The Sinister Saga of Making The Stunt Man (DVD)
Richard Rush`s debut feature was THE STUNTMAN, an absolutely brilliant thriller that received three Academy Award nominations. However, Rush struggled to get the film made, having first conceived it during the early 1970s. This documentary, made by Rush 20 years after the completion of the film, looks back on the studio politics that made this film so difficult to make. An insightful look at the sometimes sinister business of making movies, THE SINISTER SAGA is an entertaining and enlightening look at how hard it is to make a great film in Hollywood.NR"

Mysterious Object at Noon (DVD)
Part documentary part experimental narrative, Apichatpong Weerasethakul`s MYSTERIOUS OBJECT AT NOON may occupy a genre all its own. Inspired by the Surrealist storytelling technique known as Exquisite Corpse, Mr. Weerasethakul roamed the Thai countryside interviewing people to contribute a line or perhaps a chapter to his narrative. What results is a film unlike any other, simultaneously a documentary about the people of Thailand`s many villages and their surreal narrative, built one line at a time, that begins with a story about Dogfahr, a caring teacher who teaches a disabled boy and ends, quite literally, miles from there.NR"
