Vincent is not as influenced by the training with Cormon as much as by the introduction to his fellow students: John Russell, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Emile Bernard. Later in the year, Vincent's brother, Theo, who is managing an art gallery in Montmartre, introduces Vincent to the works of the Impressionists: Claude Monet, Pierre-August Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas, and Georges Seurat. The Impressionists' work has a profound influence on Vincent and his use of color. Later in the same year, Vincent became friends with Paul Gauguin, and a turbulent relationship forms that would later prove to be a turning point in both Vincent's and Gauguin's life.
