Good Sports Art Baltimore Orioles Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood Lithograph
Brooks Robinson's play was so spectacular in the 1970 World Series that teammate Frank Robinson, in his role as the team's kangaroo court judge, fined the Orioles' third baseman for "showboating it during the entire Series." Brooks Robinson made a slew of spectacular plays in the Series, including this one in the sixth inning of Game 3 in Baltimore as he dives to his left to snare a wicked line drive off the bat of Cincinnati's Johnny Bench. At 33, Robinson had already won 10 straight Gold Gloves to earn the title of "human vacuum cleaner." But he brought more than his glove to this memorable series. Robinson also brought his bat, connecting for 9 hits in 21 at-bats (.429). His 2 doubles, 2 homers, 6 RBIs and awesome defense helped the Orioles defeat the Reds in 5 games and earned Robinson the Series' Most Valuable Player award.
